February 26,2009 Period 4/5 Eleven The story we read is called Eleven. Sandra Cisneros was the author of Eleven. Eleven is a story about a girl whose birthday gets ruined by being forced to wear an ugly and smelly sweater that wasn’t even hers. Rachael is credible because it’s believable that she doesn’t want to wear an ugly sweater, that she’s too shy to stand up for herself, and that she’s mad at Phyllis Lopez who pretends to forget that the sweater was hers.
Rachael is credible because she didn’t want to wear a sweater that wasn’t hers. “I move the red sweater to the corner of my desk with my ruler.” This proves how she’s credible because it’s common sense that she doesn’t want to wear a sweater that smells like cotton cheese.
In addition, she’s believable because she’s too shy to confront the teacher and also that she gets stuck as she is speaking. “ That’s not, I don’t, you’re not. . . . not mine.”… It’s credible that she has trouble speaking because she wasn’t expecting that the teacher would just give her the sweater without even being positive that it was hers. Also that she is too timid to speak up because the teacher is her elder.
Another, reason she is credible is that she got mad at Phyllis Lopez because Phyllis didn’t admit that the sweater was hers. After Rachel cries in class, Phyllis finally, “Remembers the red sweater is hers.” In my opinion that is so credible that she got because Rachael had to suffer wearing that sweater while Phyllis Lopez was watching. Also that once class was over she told her that the sweater was hers. That’s credible in my opinion.
In conclusion, this story was about a girl whose birthday got ruined by being forced to wear a filthy, red, sweater that wasn’t hers. She was credible because she didn’t want to wear a sweater that wasn’t hers, that she was shy to confront the teacher and that she got stuck while speaking, and that she got mad at Phyllis Lopez because she lied that the sweater was hers. This proves how she was credible.
